VICENT ORTS MISTERIOSO OBJETO RESIDENCY
DECEMBER 2022
Vicent Orts is an industrial designer whose practice explores the lifespan of materials by recontextualising existing resources and production processes. Rather than relying on new raw materials, his work develops sustainable systems from what is already available, combining local materials and traditional making with industrial and technical processes.
During his ACME residency, Que pase el siguiente, Vicent worked from Ikigai, a livestock farm in the Sierra Norte of Madrid, using the tools and materials available on site as a starting point for experimentation.
Inspired by the components of a traditional rake, he developed the AV90 joint, a versatile connector made from leftover metal tubes and profiles. The system allows wooden surfaces to be assembled at 90º or 180º angles, enabling furniture and structures that can be easily adapted, modified and repaired.
Materials: metal tubes and profiles, hardware, reclaimed wood.

Misterioso Objeto was an ACME Estudio residency programme developed between 2022 and 2023, bringing together five creators —nodoCCS, Vicent Orts, Pía Mendaro, Gema FB Martín and Lucas Muñoz— to explore circularity through collective creation.
Each resident was invited to develop a new work using offcuts and surplus materials from ACME's productions, while inheriting a fragment or material from the previous resident. This created a continuous chain of transformation, turning the residency into a collective Cadáver Exquisito in which each work became the starting point for the next.
The programme explored circularity not only as a material practice, but also as a model for shared authorship, collaboration and resourcefulness — recovering materials, tools and existing resources to encourage creative processes that adapt to the world rather than requiring the world to adapt to them.
